MADISON, Wis. – After a slow start to the season, the Edgewood College women's basketball team won their third consecutive game and are back at .500 with a 61-45 win over Aurora University. The Eagles attacking defense was too much for the Spartans to handle as the Eagles tallied 20 steals in the contest. The win was the Eagles 12th consecutive home victory, tying a school record that was set during the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons.

Edgewood College (3-3, 3-0 NAC) started the game on fire by scoring the contest's first 12 points.  The Eagles held Aurora (1-5, 0-3 NAC) scoreless for the first 7:45 of the game, forcing seven Spartan turnovers. Brianna Droessler scored five of her eight points during the run, two on a fastbreak layup and the other three on a three-point basket.

The Eagles earned their largest lead of the game at 24-5 with about five minutes to go in the first half. At that point Aurora began cut into the lead. The Spartans finished the half by scoring eight of the final 12 points to cut the deficit to 13, 28-15.

Aurora continued to chip away, cutting the lead to single digits three times in the second half, including 52-43 with 2:27 remaining. However, it was not enough as the Eagles scored the final five points of the game to seal the victory and move to 3-0 in Northern Athletics play. Down the stretch, the Eagles converted on 7-of-8 free throw attempts, four from Amber Hemp, two from Hannah Schultz and one from Susan Paskey.

In the game Edgewood College tied a single-game school record by snaring 20 steals, 15 in the first half. Droessler recorded a season-high five steals to lead the team. Hemp led the Eagles in scoring with a season-high 13 points, and Schultz chipped in with 10. Schultz also led the team in rebounding with eight boards.

The Eagles will next be in action on Tuesday when they travel to Lakeland College. The matchup features north division teams who are undefeated in conference play this season, both being 3-0. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. A link for live stats can be found on EdgewoodCollegeEagles.com.
