ALBION, Mich. – In their final game in a week, the Edgewood College men's basketball team topped Bluffton University 71-53. The Eagles tightened up their defense from a night ago and shot much better from the field as they earned their first victory of the young season.

The Eagles (1-2) found themselves down four after the first 10 minutes were played with two lead changes and four ties. At that point Edgewood College's offense found its rhythm. Freshman Andrew Cobb started an Eagle 8-0 run with a layup. Ben Wisniewski added a jumper and layup before Cobb ended the run with another layup to put Edgewood College up 21-17. Their offense kept rolling into halftime as they mounted a 36-25 lead over Bluffton (0-3).

Out of the locker room, the Eagles extended their lead with a Jeff Barczak layup, a Tony Cates tip-in along with a couple Wisniewski jumpers and three-point basket to put Edgewood College up 47-31 with 15 minutes left. Four minutes later the lead swelled to 21 after Cobb hit one of his two three-point shots in the game.

The Eagles second half shooting was too much for the Beavers as Edgewood College shot 65 percent from the field in the frame and 52 percent for the game. Edgewood College's attacking defense also forced 18 Bluffton turnovers, and scored 11 points off those turnovers to take the game 71-53.

Wisniewski led the Eagles in points for the second consecutive night, this time with 14 points. He also led the team with six assists while grabbing four rebounds in the victory. After scoring 20 points the Eagles game on Friday, Wisniewski was named to the all-tournament team.

Along with Wisniewski, the Eagles had four other players to reach double digits in points. Cobb put in 13, while fellow freshman Cates scored 12. Derek Nkemnji added 11 and Barczak rounded out the five Eagles in double digits with 10 points.

Edgewood College opens their home schedule next Saturday when they host the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Edgewood College will be providing live video and live stats for the contest, links for both can be found on EdgewoodCollegeEagles.com.
