Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Warriors rebounding too much for Eagles

MADISON, Wis. -  Men's Basketball headed into their final week of the regular season Wednesday evening. They hosted the Wisconsin Lutheran Warriors in a NACC showdown. The Warriors (7-17, 5-12 NACC) held off the Eagles (4-19, 4-13) in a scrappy 79-72 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- While the two teams tussled over slim leads over the first five minutes, Wisconsin Lutheran took full advantage of a strong rebounding game to fuel a 10-3 rally that propelled them ahead 23-12 at 10:55. The Warriors would lead by as much as 14 down the stretch, though Edgewood University went into the locker room down 42-32.

- Five unanswered from the Eagles cut the Wisconsin Lutheran lead down to just 44-37 with 18:29 to play. Edgewood University hung tough, taking advantage of a turnover to post four points straight to trim the lead to 65-61 with 6:49 left. While five unanswered pushed the Warriors lead to 70-61, the Eagles clamped down on Wisconsin Lutheran and put together a 9-3 response to close within 73-70 with 2:39 to go. While Edgewood University had opportunities from three-point land, their shots wouldn't fall as the Warriors survived the Edgedome.

- Wisconsin Lutheran had a critical edge in rebounding, 42-to-30.

- Bryce Appel was the star of the show for the visiting Warriors. He earned a 23-point, 12-rebound double-double.

- Isaiah Mellock tallied 17 points while Austin Wagner scored 10 points in five minutes off the bench.

- Hunter Hardyman paced all Eagles with 15 points.

- Trent Tousana had a solid performance with 10 points, two assists, and two steals.

- Jonah Anderson played pivotal minutes, earning four steals and four assists.
