LAKE GENEVA, Wis. – In their final tune up before the NAC Championships, the Edgewood College men's golf team won the MSOE Fall Invitational. The first place finish is the Eagles best finish of the year as they bettered their second place finish in the opening tournament of the season.
With identical rounds of 76, sophomore Mike Battista finished his second tournament of the season in the top 10, and his first in the top five. Battista put together the Eagles low score of the tournament to finish third only two shots behind tournament winner, Kyle Bahnick of Carthage College.
Senior Aaron Gavin was not far behind Battista as he finished fifth with a two-day total of 153 only one stroke back of Battista's 152. Brent Quade finished 18th after shooting 75 and 82 for a meet total of 157. Logan Kranz and Mark Fields rounded out the team as they tied for 24th with identical scores of 160.
The Eagles will next be in action on Monday and Tuesday at the Northern Athletics Conference Championships when the play the Irish Course at Whistling Straights in Haven, WIs.
