MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's soccer team had a chance to avenge their loss to MSOE earlier this season in Milwaukee as they hosted the Raiders in the Northern Athletics Conference Tournament's first round. With neither team scoring in regulation or overtime, the game was decided on penalty kicks with MSOE converting three times to Edgewood College's one.

After the Eagles (12-5-2) and Raiders (10-7-3) played 110 minutes without scoring a goal, the game was sent to penalty kicks to see who would advance to the semifinals of the NAC Tournament. MSOE got the first crack and sent Jamie Janczak to take the kick. She deposited it into the upper left corner of the net to give the Raiders the advantage. First up for the Eagles was Tammi Hagensick, who had her shot saved by Emma Lumpe, MSOE's goalkeeper.

Melanie Monreal had an opportunity to give the Raiders a commanding 2-0 lead, but her shot sailed high. Janna Yost had a chance to tie up the score, but Lumpe came up with another save to keep the lead at one. Next, Allison Plank converted on her attempt to give MSOE a 2-0 lead. Christina Senn responded for the Eagles and cut the lead in half, at 2-1 with two players left to kick for each team.

Heidi Brehmer converted her attempt to again put MSOE up by two goals, which meant Edgewood College needed to convert the next kick to stay alive. Lumpe came up with a save on Emily Daniels attempt to extend the Raiders season with the 3-1 victory on penalty kicks.

In the first half, MSOE had a couple chances to score a go ahead goal. The first came in the 10th minute as Mindy Donald had a free kick from the top of the box. Her shot never made it to the Eagle net as it was blocked by their wall. The Raiders next best opportunity came on another free kick, this time in the 36th minute. Again it was Donald that took the kick from 30 yards out. Her boot made it to the Eagle net as it was saved by Ilana Bar-av.

Edgewood College's best opportunity came with only one second remaining in regulation. Abby Moder broke free at the top of the Raider box and slid a shot that rolled just right of the Raider goal as time expired to send the game to overtime.

MSOE pressured the Eagles early in the first overtime, with their best opportunity being turned away by Bar-av in the 94th minute. Edgewood College would again threaten late as Clare Schumacher let a shot fly that was turned away by Lumpe with just five second to go in the period.

In the second overtime, it was just the opposite as the Eagles put pressure on the Raiders. Lumpe had to make two saves to send the game to penalty kicks where MSOE advanced 3-1.

In the match, Bar-av recorded her sixth shutout of the season and the 20th of her career which moved her into sole possession of second place in school history.
