Eagles drop two to Warhawks in opener

MINNEAPOLIS (Mar. 1, 2008) - UW-Whitewater pounded out 17 hits to sweep a pair of games from Edgewood College in the 2008 season opener for both teams. The Warhawks won the first game 4-3 in eight innings and finished the sweep with a 10-4 win in the nightcap at the H.H.H. Metrodome.

In game one, the Eagles scored three runs on the fifth to tie the game at three, but could not keep the Warhawks from pushing one across in the eighth for the win. Cody Flynn started the game and Rick Walsh ended up taking the loss after entering the game in the fifth inning.

In the second game, Edgewood College (0-2) made three pitching changes during a UW-Whitewater rally in the fifth inning. Nathan Marlowe started and picked up his first loss of the season, matching his total from a year ago.

Complete details and box scores will be available on Monday. The Eagles will have another late night at the Metrodome tonight, when they face Augsburg College (Minn.) in another doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 10 p.m.
