Box Score

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – For the first eight minutes of the game, it appeared that freshman Brock Bidlingmaier planned to carry Edgewood College to victory over fifth-ranked UW-Stevens Point singlehandedly. However, the Pointers recorded 51 points off their bench to pull away from the Eagles for a 93-63 victory at Quandt Fieldhouse.

Bidlingmaier hit four three-pointers, scoring 14 of the Eagles' first 16 points and Kent Faurote hit a three-pointer to keep the Eagles close at 20-19 in the early going. However, the Pointers stunned the Eagles with a 21-3 run over the next nine minutes to open up a 41-22 bulge. During UW-Stevens Point's run the Eagles went 0-for6 from the field with seven turnovers. Faurote finally stopped the bleeding with a short jumper at the 1:34 mark. The Eagles then finished the half on an 8-2 run to trail 43-30 at the break.

In the second half, the Eagles hung close, cutting the lead to 12 points at 48-36 on a pair of Jeff Barczak free throws. Once again though, the Pointers had an answer, scoring 12 straight points to blow the game open at 60-36. The Eagles and Pointers traded baskets for much of the rest of the game, until UW-Stevens Point tacked on the final five points of the night to set the final margin.

Edgewood College (3-6) was led by Bidlingmaier who finished with a season-high 14 points, making four of five shots from beyond the arc. Faurote continued the three-point attack, making three of five triples to finish with 13 points. The Eagles shot 52.9 percent (9-for-17) from the arc for the game. Ben Wisniewski added 10 points.

Three of UW-Stevens Point's top four scorers came off the bench led by Jared Jenkins with 16 points. Louis Hurd and Pete Rortvedt scored 15 points apiece. The Pointers shot 60.3 percent from the field and force 22 Eagle turnovers.

Edgewood College will be off until after the turn of the new year. The Eagles will be playing in the Franklin & Marshall New Year's Classic in Lancaster, Pa. on January 2. Edgewood College will face Susquehanna University (Pa.) the first night before drawing either the College of New Jersey or the host Diplomats the second night.
