MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's volleyball team wanted to send their three seniors out on a high note, but Beloit College made sure it wasn't meant to be. The Buccaneers downed the Eagles in three sets 25-15, 25-18, 25-19 on Senior Night at the Todd Wehr Edgedome. The Eagles finish their 2008 season with a 7-23 record.

In the opening set, the Buccaneers took advantage of eight straight service points by Esther Chiu and nine Edgewood College errors. Behind Chiu's serves Beloit College turned a 6-6 tie into a 15-6 bulge. The Eagles did get four kills from senior Kim Paskey down the stretch to close the margin, but it wasn't enough for a win.

The Eagles battled back from an early 4-0 hole in set two and took a 10-9 lead on an Ashley Averkamp kill, but five attack errors in the latter half of the set undid the Eagles chances. The Eagles seemed to gain momentum in the third set, getting three straight kills, two from Nina Brown and one by Kim Lueck for a 12-8 lead. However, Beloit College (16-11) tied the set at 18 and then proceeded to scored seven of the final eight points to end the match.

Averkamp was the top hitter for the Eagles with six kills and just two errors for a .250 percentage. Abbi Schultz and Paskey shared team-high honors in kills with seven apiece. Senior Hannah Williams closed out her career with 13 more assists and a team-high 14 more digs.

Before the match, seniors Paskey, Williams and Leslie Kopatz were honored for their dedication and commitment to the Edgewood College program. Paskey leaves the Eagles as the all-time leader in kills and blocks in the rally scoring era (since 2001), while Williams is second all-time in assists in the same period.
