MADISON, Wis. – In a season full of tough road matches, the Edgewood College volleyball team will still be able to say they protected their home court. The Eagles clinched at least a .500 season at the Todd Wehr Edgedome with a 3-1 victory over Alverno College on Friday night. Edgewood College is now 6-5 at home with just the season finale against Beloit College remaining.

The Eagles (7-22, 2-10 NAC) jumped on the Inferno early using three Aryn Wellnitz kills and an ace from Hannah Williams to turn an 8-6 deficit into a 12-8 first set lead. The Eagles wouldn't look back with Kim Paskey recording three kills and an assisted block with Abbi Schultz down the stretch to win the set 25-17.

Set two turned into an Eagle block party as Paskey and Schultz stuffed Inferno attacks on back-to-back points to forge an early lead. Ashley Averkamp added two solo blocks as the Eagles totaled five in the 25-18 win.

Alverno College (2-22, 0-10 NAC) rallied out of the gate in set three, scoring the first four points and then opening up an 11-4 lead. Alicia Kontowski and Robyn Rosenthal recorded service aces for the Inferno. Alverno claimed a 25-19 win in the set.

In set four, it was Paskey who gave the Eagles control of the match from the service line. Paskey held serve for nine consecutive points, scoring two aces to give the Eagles a 15-4 lead and put the set and the match out of reach with a 25-16 final set decision.

Paskey, Edgewood College's career leader in kills and blocks in the rally scoring era, added to her career totals with 15 kills and eight assisted blocks. She hit .462 for the match. Kristin Manske added 10 kills and nine digs of her own, while Williams handed out 27 assists. Robyn Rosenthal was Alverno's leading attacker with 11 kills.

Edgewood College will honor their seniors on Tuesday night in their final match of the season. The action begins at 7:00 at the Todd Wehr Edgedome.
