Stars serve up 13 aces to down Eagles

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Dominican University peppered the Edgewood College volleyball team with 13 service aces in sending the Eagles to their third straight defeat, 3-1 at the Igini Sports Forum Friday night. Dominican claimed the match by scores of 25-19, 22-25, 25-12 and 25-10.

Edgewood College (5-18, 1-7 NAC) tallied 38 kills in the match, but couldn't keep pace with Dominican's 47 kills against just seven attack errors. Kristin Manske led the Eagles with 11 kills, while Abbi Schultz had six kills and just one error to finish with an attack percentage of .333. The Eagles recorded 10 total blocks, anchored by Kim Paskey and Ashley Averkamp. Paskey had two solo blocks while Averkamp picked up three stuffs. Each of them had four assisted blocks as well.

Dominican University (9-12, 3-3 NAC) was led by the pair of Darcy Kammeier and Evelyn Gamboa. The two hitters combined for 29 kills and just two errors. Each of them, along with Kasey Kiepura were responsible for four of the Stars' service aces apiece.

The Eagles will return to the court tomorrow afternoon against Concordia University Chicago still looking for their first win away from the Edgedome. Saturday's match begins at noon.
