VERONA, Wis. – After a six-hour weather delay, RV Edgewood University and Gustavus Adolphus College finally took the field under the lights at Edgewood University Field at Reddan Park on Friday evening. In a rematch of last season's NCAA Tournament First Round matchup, the Eagles battled the Gusties to a 1-1 draw. The Eagles equalizer came in the 70th minute when junior Beckham Murrow found the back of the net for his first goal of the 2026 season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- With just over 20 minutes remaining in a fast-paced contest, Murrow delivered a perfectly placed ball to level the match at 1-1. The goal marked his third career goal as an Eagle.
- Gustavus Adolphus (0-0-1) struck first, converting a penalty kick in the seventh minute to take an early 1-0 advantage. The Gusties controlled much of the opening half, holding a 13-6 advantage in shots at the break.
- Edgewood University (0-0-2) goalkeeper Ezra Wallace kept the Eagles within striking distance throughout the first half, making five saves.
- The Eagles increased the pressure after halftime, outshooting Gustavus 8-6 in the second half.
- The Edgewood University defense held strong over the final 45 minutes, limiting the Gusties to just three shots on target and helping preserve the draw.
TOP PERFORMERS
- Wallace tallied eight saves in just his second appearance in goal for the Eagles.
- Murrow netted his third goal as an Eagle on Friday night.
- Haris Sarajlija led the Eagles with three shots.
- Riley Kann, Isaiah Stiebel, Ryan Sabey, and Arjun Kaushik each recorded two shots in the non-conference contest.
THE OPPOSITION
- Joe Flory converted the penalty kick for Gustavus Adolphus and led the Gusties with five shots, including two on target.
- Jackson Baker played all 90 minutes in goal for Gustavus and made three saves.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Friday's contest marked a rematch of the 2025 NCAA Tournament First Round matchup in Minneapolis, Minn. Last season, the Eagles defeated Gustavus Adolphus 3-0 to earn the first NCAA Tournament victory in program history.
