MADISON, Wis. - The Edgewood University women's soccer team hosted non-conference Grinnell College on Sunday afternoon. The Pioneers managed two second half goals to claim a 2-0 win over the Eagles following scoreless first half. Despite finishing even in shots on the afternoon, Edgewood University couldn't find the back of the net in the non-conference contest.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood University (0-4-1) and Grinnell College (2-3-1) both finished with 11 shots on Sunday. Despite even opportunities, the Pioneers were able to convert on back-to-back goals in the second half.
- Rama Joshi found the back of the net in the 63rd minute, converting a pass from Zoe Antebi. Just three minutes later, Teya Lochridge gave the Pioneers a 2-0 advantage that held steady through the final 25 minutes.
- The Eagles and Pioneers were scoreless after the first 45 minutes. Edgewood University put the pressure on, forcing three saves from Grinnell goalkeeper Grayson Allison in the first half. Annika Hudson recorded two early shots in the 17th and 22nd minutes, but neither found their way into the back of the net.
- Hudson led the Eagles with five shots on the afternoon, four on net. Stephanie Kalscheuer and Riley Haertle each recorded three shots.
- Edgewood University managed three corner kick opportunities in the second half.
- Madeline Brown recorded three saves in net for the Eagles.
