KENOSHA, Wis. – The Edgewood University women's soccer team opened the 2026 season at Carthage College on Tuesday. The Firebirds handed the Eagles a 1-0 non-conference loss. Madeline Brown was tested in goal for the Eagles, making seven saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Carthage College (1-0) opened their 2026 home campaign with an early goal in the 20th minute. The Firebirds controlled most of play in the first half, taking 10 shots.

- Edgewood University (0-1) managed two shots in the second half, one each coming from newcomers Sarah Bolchen and Annika Hudson.

- Madeline Brown was key in net for the Eagles, making seven saves. Four of Brown's saves came in the second half to help hold the Firebirds to just one goal on the evening.

THE OPPOSITION
- Emma Amberg scored the lone goal for Carthage on Tuesday. Amberg added four shots, three on goal.

- Malie Cassel led the Firebirds with five shots, two on target.

- Tatiana Valdez went the distance in net for Carthage, managing one save.
