Fourth Quarter Attack Lifts Eagles Past Rams in NACC Tournament

VERONA, Wis. – It was redemption time for the Edgewood University women's lacrosse team on Saturday in the NACC Tournament Quarterfinal matchup with Cornell College. After losing to the Rams in the regular season, the third-seeded Eagles hosted sixth-seeded Cornell College. The Eagles claimed the NACC Tournament victory via a 11-5 final. After being tied at halftime, the Eagles scored twice in the third quarter and five times in the fourth quarter to advance to the NACC Tournament Semifinal for the second-straight season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After 30 minutes, Edgewood University (8-10) and Cornell College (5-11) were tied at four goals apiece. The Eagles scored the first two goals on Saturday afternoon, as Lauryn Brown and Kailey Smith both scored in the first minute for a 2-0 Eagle advantage. Cornell College got back in control, scoring three free-position goals in the final seven minutes to take a 3-2 lead at the end of the first quarter.

- Seven minutes into the second quarter, a goal from Christina Eloe tied the contest at three goals apiece. Brynn Miroslavich responded for Cornell with a goal for a 4-3 Rams lead. Lauryn Brown found the back of the net, assisted by Milli Shell with 3:19 left before halftime to tie the contest.

- An early player-up goal from Ava Ferencz gave Cornell a 5-4 lead through the middle of the third quarter. Edgewood University stepped up to the plate and shut down the Rams attack. Smith and Malak Daoud scored back-to-back goals, both assisted by Shell to give the Eagles a 6-5 lead going into the final 15 minutes.

- Edgewood University controlled possession for most of the fourth quarter, scoring five times and collecting four draw controls. The Eagles defense did not allow a shot from the Rams in the final quarter.

- The Eagles dominated the draw control on Saturday, winning 13 while the Rams won just five on the afternoon.

TOP PERFORMERS
- Eloe and Brown each posted a hat trick on Saturday.

- Shell dished out a game-best three assists.

- Eloe collected a whopping seven draw controls, caused three turnovers, and collected six ground balls.

- Smith and Costello both scored twice.

- Bella Braun collected three saves in net for the Eagles.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Edgewood University has now won three NACC Tournament contests. The Eagles defeated Beloit in the 2025 NACC Tournament Quarterfinal for their first-ever tournament victory.

THE OPPOSITION
- Ava Ferencz led the Rams attack with three goals and one assist. She added three caused turnovers and two draw controls.

- Ilsa Jeffery caused three turnovers and collected four ground balls.

- Hannah Miech recorded seven saves in net for the Rams.

UP NEXT
- Edgewood University will travel to No. 2 Aurora University on Wednesday, April 29. The NACC Tournament Semifinal match will take place at 2:00 p.m. from Montgomery, Illinois.
