VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood University women's lacrosse team closed out the regular season with a 18-1 win over Beloit College on Wednesday. The Eagles first half attack solidified their second-straight win and sixth in conference play. Lauryn Brown paced the Eagles attack with five goals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood University (7-10, 6-3 NACC) scored in just 32 seconds on Wednesday and never turned back. Five different Eagles combined for eight goals in the opening 15 minutes. Brown and Christina Eloe both scored twice, while Kerry Costello, Kailey Smith and Milli Shell each added a goal.
- The Eagles continued to roll in the second quarter, scoring five goals. Shell got things going in the first minute, to put the Eagles up 9-0. Eloe put the Eagles into running clock with 14:10 before halftime.
- Paige Janicki added an unassisted goal to put Edgewood University up 11-0. Malak Daoud scored the Eagles final goal before halftime with 5:31 on the clock. Beloit (0-14, 0-9 NACC) scored their only goal of the game, a player-up goal with 2:21 left before the break. The Eagles led 13-1 at the break.
- Edgewood University scored three times in the third quarter and twice in the fourth. The Eagles defense only allowed two shots from Beloit in the fourth quarter.
- The Eagles claimed 13 draw controls on Wednesday evening, compared to eight from Beloit. Edgewood University only allowed six shots from the Beloit on the evening.
TOP PERFORMERS
- Seven different Eagles scored in the Eagles scored in the highest scoring game all season. Brown led the Eagles with five goals. Eloe scored four times, while Shell added a hat trick. Smith and Costello both scored twice.
- Shell dished out a game-best three assists, while Eloe and Smith both added two assists on the evening.
- Shell collected six draw controls.
- Smith added four caused turnovers and five ground balls. Thompson and Brown each caused three turnovers.
- Braun collected three saves.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Braun eclipsed 100 saves in her first season in net for the Eagles.
THE OPPOSITION
- Menah Garcia scored the Buccaneers only goal.
- Willow Mashkuri collected three draw controls.
- Zoey Soost caused two turnovers.
- Kim Pilon collected nine saves in net for Beloit.
