VERONA, Wis. – Baseball kicked off a five-game homestand Wednesday night at Stampfl Field. They took on the Rockford Regents in NACC action. While the Regents (20-12, 9-9 NACC) got the better of the Eagles (17-13, 11-7) with a 7-5 rally in game one, Edgewood University bounced back for a 9-2 final in the nightcap.
GAME ONE: ROCKFORD 7, EDGEWOOD UNIVERSITY 5
- The pitchers shut down the offenses for the first six innings of play. The Regents struck first with a sacrifice fly to right in the first. Both teams tallied runs in the third, a throwing error sending in one for Rockford while
Kyle Prindle singled through the right side to offset the mistake.
- The Eagles took full advantage of Regents mistakes in the seventh. A sacrifice bunt coupled with a throwing error tallied one run.
Jacob Carney hit a single to right field to plate a pair of unearned runs for a 4-2 edge.
- Rockford struck back with a pair of runs in the eighth, including a sacrifice fly to right. A Carter Kelly single to left field put Edgewood University back in the driver's seat 5-4 heading into the ninth, but a double down the left field line followed by a two-run homer put the Regents back ahead 7-5. The Eagles kept fighting, getting runners on first and second in the bottom of the inning, but were unable to muster a response.

Charlie Tompach swung 2-for-2 with two runs, two stolen bases, and a walk.
- Marcus Taylor was the hero of game one for Rockford. He hit 3-for-5, including a double and three runs.
- Kyle Koerner earned the victory and Sidney Atkins the save for the Regents.
Aiden Shumaker struck out six and allowed four earned runs in seven innings pitched.
GAME TWO: EDGEWOOD UNIVERSITY 9, ROCKFORD 2
- The Eagles had the wind at their back with a five-run second.
Dominic Lee singled in the opening run before a wild pitch sent Lee home for a 2-0 lead.
Hayden Hellenbrand kept things rolling with an RBI single accompanied by an error for another two runs. Prindle put a bow on the onslaught with a RBI single through the right side.

Ben Truby sacrifice fly and a Hellenbrand single to left center tacked on a run apiece as the Eagles kept the pressure on in the third. Rockford struggled to muster offense, recording no earned runs on three hits. A single to left field in the fifth would put them on the board, but Edgewood University kept things well under control.
- Tompach stole home and Prindle battled in a run with a ground out to push the Eagles ahead 9-1. While Rockford threatened offense in the ninth,
Cole Pulliam stepped up to shut down the Regents for the final two outs.

Mark Tor shined in the victory. He allowed two hits and no earned runs with seven strikeouts in 6.1 innings.
- Hellenbrand,
Aidan Kammer, and Lee each posted two hits.
Mac Vesperman hit a double.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Edgewood University has won 5 of 6 against the Regents, including a 9-8 victory in a 12 inning elimination game in last year's NACC Tournament.
- The Eagles are second in the NACC in batting average (.316), walks (153), and RBIs (235).
- Tompach is fifth in the NACC with a .515 on base percentage.
