MEQUON, Wis. – The Edgewood University men's lacrosse team continued conference action at Concordia University Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons took home a 21-6 win over the Eagles. Searles backed the Eagles defense with another 20 plus save showing, while Zach Thomas highlighted the attack with a hat trick.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Just nine minutes into the first quarter on Saturday afternoon, Edgewood University (3-11, 3-7 NACC) led Concordia University Wisconsin (15-1, 9-1 NACC) 2-1 thanks to back-to-back goals from Thomas. The Falcons tied the game at two goals apiece in the final minute of the first quarter.
- The Falcons quickly responded in the second quarter, scoring six-straight goals and taking an 8-2 lead before allowing the Eagles to score in the final four minutes of the quarter. Maddux Ptasienski and James Borgardt found the back of the net in the 27th minute, but the Falcons took a commanding 10-4 lead into halftime.
- Concordia Wisconsin continued their dominant attack in the third quarter, scoring eight goals and holding Edgewood University scoreless. The Eagles only managed five shots in the third quarter, with two on target.
- The Eagles slowed the Falcons roll in the fourth quarter, only allowing three goals thanks to five saves from Logan Searles. Thomas and Williams both scored in the final quarter.
- Concordia Wisconsin outshot Edgewood University 54 to 36 on Saturday.
TOP PERFORMERS
- Thomas led the Eagles attack with three goals and one assist.
- Ryan Hanrahan and Zane Neville each caused two turnovers. Neville collected four ground balls.
- Borgardt won six faceoffs and collected five ground balls.
- Searles continued to be a highlight for the Eagles in net, recording 21 saves. Searles now owns five games with 20 or more saves in 2026.
THE OPPOSITION
- Bryce Petersen led the Falcons with five goals and one assist.
- Jack Knutson scored four times and dished out four assists.
- Kaleb Wiekel found the back of the net four times and added two assists.
- Brayden Wilson scored three times and added three assists.
- Frank Trewyn went 15-for-21 at the faceoff and collected eight ground balls.
- Nolan O'Malley claimed the win in net for the Falcons and recorded nine saves.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Searles now owns more than 400 saves in his career. He is just the second Eagle to reach the mark, with Luke Quakenbush owning 626 saves in his career with the Eagles.
