Eagles fall to Stars in Rosemont

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Edgewood University softball team faced one of the top teams in the NACC Saturday, traveling to Dominican University. The Stars offense was too much for the Eagles on Saturday, winning both contests by scores of 11-4 and 4-0.

DOMINICAN UNIVERSITY 11, EDGEWOOD UNIVERSITY 4 – GAME ONE
- Dominican University (14-10, 8-2 NACC) strung together runs in each of the first three innings to take an early 7-0 lead. Edgewood University (10-11, 3-3 NACC) plated two runs in the top of the fifth inning. A single off the bat of Natalie Fields plated Allie Draper and Grace Dooley for the Eagles first runs of the game.

- The Eagles added two more runs in the sixth frame, as an RBI double from MacKenzie Miller and fielder's choice RBI from Lauren Prigge gave the Eagles their third and fourth runs of the day.

- Unfortunately, the Stars bats continued to be consistent in the later innings, scoring once in the fifth inning and three times in the sixth frame for an 11-4 final.

- The Stars totaled 17 hits in game one on Saturday. Sara Cornell went 4-for-4 at the plate, scoring three runs and driving in two. Hannah Richards claimed the win in the circle for the Stars, throwing four innings and striking out four batters.

- Ariana Macias went the distance in the circle for the Eagles.

DOMINICAN UNIVERSITY 4, EDGEWOOD UNIVERSITY 0 – GAME TWO
- The Edgewood University bats struggled in the nightcap on Saturday. Abilina Dubree and Draper recorded the Eagles only hits.

- Dominican scored runs in the first, third and fifth innings on Saturday afternoon. Dominican totaled nine hits, eight of which were singles. Isabella Olmos, Charlie Harris, and Kayla Amormino each totaled two hits for the Stars.

- Game two was a tale of two pitchers. Lauren Prigge for the Eagles and Rhiannon Rubio for the Stars both went the distance in the circle. Prigge scattered nine hits and struck out two batters, while Rubio struck out seven Eagles.

- Edgewood University will travel to Rockford University on Sunday, April 12. Doubleheader action is set to begin at 12:00 p.m. from Rockford, Ill.
