ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The Edgewood University women's lacrosse team opened their Minnesota trip at the College of Saint Benedict on Saturday. The Eagles fell to the Bennies 22-2 on Saturday. Milli Shell and Paige Janicki both scored for Edgewood University in the non-conference contest.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Saint Benedict (1-0) jumped out to a 12-0 lead at halftime. The Bennies netted six goals in the first two quarters on Saturday and totaled 37 shots before halftime.
- Edgewood University posted a goal in both the third and fourth quarters on Saturday afternoon. Milli Shell scored first for the Eagles, coming in the third quarter. Paige Janicki netted a thrilling goal with 6:02 left in the fourth quarter.
- On the afternoon, Saint Benedict went a perfect 16-for-16 on clears. In addition, the Bennies won 12 draw controls.
- Bella Braun posted eight saves in net for the Eagles.
- Christina Eloe, Malak Daoud, and Shell each collected three draw controls.
THE OPPOSITION
- Sami Hackley led the Bennies with seven goals and three assists. She added four caused turnovers and went 2-for-2 on free-position shots.
- Ava Mosley posted five goals.
- Lizzie Schrubbe dished out four assists and scored twice.
- Rayna Malmberg collected seven draw controls, dished out three assists, and scored twice.
