VERONA, Wis. – Softball kicked off home action at Ceniti Park Saturday. They took on the Alverno Inferno to open NACC play. The Eagles (9-8, 2-0 NACC) were relentless, claiming a sweep of the Inferno (0-14, 0-4) with a 9-1 victory in game one and a 15-1 win in game two.
GAME ONE: EDGEWOOD UNIVERSITY 9, ALVERNO 1 (FIVE INNINGS)
- The Eagles took full advantage of Inferno mistakes in a three-run first inning, including a
MacKenzie Miller single to left center plating a pair.
- While an RBI triple put Alverno on the board in the second, a
Grace Dooley single up the middle offset the run in the third.
- Edgewood University hit the jets in the fourth to help claim the run rule.
Abilina Dubree walked in a run with the bases loaded, before
Lily Mabs and Dooley hit two-RBI singles to push the tally to 9-1.

Lauren Prigge shined in the start. She fanned six Alverno batters and tossed five innings for a complete game.
- Dubree posted three runs in the victory.
Natalie Fields swiped a pair of bases.
GAME TWO: EDGEWOOD UNIVERSITY 15, ALVERNO 1 (FIVE INNINGS)
- The Eagles took full advantage of early pitching struggles for the Inferno. Miller took a hit by pitch with the bases loaded for the run then
Ariana Macias singled in a run for a 2-0 lead after one.
- A nine-run second left the Inferno in the dust. Miller and Dooley took hit by pitches for a run apiece. Macias and
Olivia Chichenoff ratcheted up the pressure with an RBI single apiece as the bases remained loaded. Eric Johnson stepped in to pinch hit and cleared the bases with a three-RBI double to right field to put a bow on the inning.

Lily Mabs and Miller followed up the explosive second inning by hitting back-to-back home runs on back-to-back pitches in the third to extend the lead to 13-0
- While Alverno got on board with a sacrifice grounder to second plating one, the Eagles tacked on two more in the bottom of the frame to close things out on offense. Mabs walked in a run with the bases loaded, before Miller wrapped up the scoring with an RBI grounder to second base.
- Miller finished with four RBIs in the second game. Macias supported her own start with two hits and two RBIs, while allowing no hits in two innings pitched.

Hailie Boardman stepped up in relief and allowed only three hits and a run.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Eagles have won 10 straight games over Alverno.
- Edgewood University has now won four contests in a row.

NACC action continues at Ceniti Park tomorrow. The Eagles will host the Wisconsin Lutheran Warriors for a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for noon in Verona, Wis.
