VERONA, Wis. – Five different players scored for Edgewood University on Wednesday as they defeated Marian University 15-2. The Eagles offensive onslaught helped them capture their first victory of the season. Zach Thomas posted a whopping seven goals. The Eagles victory is the first for head coach Mitch Wilkins.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood University (1-6, 1-2 NACC) scored in every quarter on Wednesday afternoon. Marian University (0-5, 0-3 NACC) scored first on Wednesday, taking a 1-0 lead with 6:52 remaining in the first quarter. The Eagles quickly responded, scoring four goals in the final five minutes. James Borgardt, Zach Thomas, and Gavin Williams all contributed to the scoring effort for the Eagles.
- The Eagles shutout the Sabres in the second quarter. Demetri Singto highlighted the Eagles three goals in the second quarter, scoring his first as an Eagle. At halftime, the Eagles led 7-1.
- Edgewood University didn't slow down after the break, scoring seven-straight goals to take a 14-1 lead. Thomas scored four times in the third quarter, while Dominic Derocker netted his first goal as an Eagle. Marian scored in the final 25 seconds of the third quarter.
- James Borgardt closed out the scoring efforts on Wednesday evening with a goal at the 8:16 mark in the fourth quarter. The Eagles defense held Marian to just five shots in the fourth quarter and only one on target.
- 10 of the Eagles 15 goals were assisted on Wednesday afternoon. Williams dished out a team-high four assists, while Maddux Ptasienski posted three assists.

- Thomas totaled nine points on Wednesday, scoring seven times and assisting on two goals.
- Williams posted a career-best night, scoring three goals and dishing out four assists for a career-best seven points.
- Borgardt added a hat trick for the Eagles.
- Logan Searles posted four saves in net for the Eagles. Dominic Derocker and Mike Madeja also saw time in net, with Madeja making a save in the fourth quarter.
