KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Edgewood University softball team broke out the brooms on the final day of spring break at THE Spring Games, taking two wins. The Eagles opened the day with a 4-1 win over SUNY Old Westbury before downing the University of Maine-Farmington 14-2 in five innings.
EDGEWOOD UNIVERSITY 4, SUNY OLD WESTBURY 1
- Edgewood University (7-8) wasted little time scoring on Thursday morning. A two RBI single off the bat of Grace Dooley gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead through the first inning.
- In the second frame, Chloe McLaughlin successfully scored on a first and third situation.
- SUNY Old Westbury (0-4) scored their only run of the game in the third inning.
- Dooley, Natalie Fields, and McLaughlin each posted two hits for the Eagles.
- Lauren Prigge earned the start in the circle, pitching three innings and striking out four batters. Ariana Macias claimed her first win for the Eagles, pitching in relief. Hailie Boardman earned the save, throwing three innings and striking out a batter.
EDGEWOOD UNIVERSITY 14, MAINE FARMINGTON 2 – 5 INNINGS
- The Eagles bats continued to roll in game two, posting 14 hits and scoring 14 runs. Edgewood University scored six runs in the first inning and seven runs in the second frame to take a 13-2 lead through two innings.
- In the first inning alone, the Eagles posted six hits and batted around. The Eagles dominance continued in the second frame, posting five hits and hitting around for the second-straight inning.
- Savannah Radtke and Ellie Eggert both posted their first hits as Eagles. Radtke cleared the bases with a three RBI double in the second inning, while Eggert posted an RBI single in the fifth inning.
- Lily Mabs went 2-for-2, scoring two runs and driving in three Eagles. Natalie Fields and McLaughlin each added two hits in game two on Thursday.
- Prigge posted a complete game victory on Thursday, striking out five batters and claiming her fourth win of the season.
