KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Edgewood University softball team faced Ursinus College and Southern Maine at THE Spring Games on Wednesday. Ursinus claimed a walk-off victory for a 7-5 final. In game two, Southern Maine took home a 4-0 win over the Eagles.
URSINUS COLLEGE 7, EDGEWOOD UNIVERSITY 5
- Ursinus College (5-6) scored first on Wednesday morning, as a single to center field plated a single runner in the bottom of the first inning. Edgewood University (5-7) responded with two runs in the top of the second frame. The Eagles loaded the bases and scored after Chloe McLaughlin was hit by a pitch. A single to center field off the bat of Olivia Chichenoff scored Grace Dooley to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead.
- Edgewood University tacked on a pair of runs in the fifth and a solo home run from Gracie Halfman in the sixth gave the Eagles a 5-1 advantage. Ursinus tied the game in the bottom of the sixth inning.
- The Eagles put runners in scoring position in the top of the seventh inning but couldn't cross home plate. Kayla Carr blasted a two-run home run for the Bears to claim the walk-off win.
- Chichenoff went 3-for-3 at the plate and added two RBI. Lily Mabs went 3-for-4, scoring a run and adding a double.
- Hailie Boardman pitched 5.1 innings for the Eagles, striking out two batters.
SOUTHERN MAINE 4, EDGEWOOD UNIVERSITY 0
- Southern Maine (5-2) scored all four runs in the fourth inning on Wednesday afternoon. The Huskies first run scored via an RBI fielder choice from Ella Bezanson. Brianna Greiner blasted a three-run home run for a 4-0 advantage.
- In the bottom of the seventh, the Eagles had runners in scoring position thanks to a leadoff walk from Savannah Radtke and single from Natalie Fields. Unfortunately, the Eagles were unable to plate any runs.
- Fields and Dooley each recorded a hit for the Eagles.
- Camdyn Johnson claimed the complete game shutout for the Huskies. Johnson struck out five batters and scattered just two hits.
- Ariana Macias went 3.1 innings in the circle and struck out a batter while scattering four hits. Boardman went 3.1 innings and struck out a batter.
