PENSACOLA, Fla. – Spring Break action continued in Florida Monday for Baseball. They took on the UW-Whitewater Warhawks, ranked no. 15 in the latest d3baseball national poll. The Warhawks (7-3) took down the Eagles (6-5) 13-3 in seven innings.
HOW IT HAPPENED.
- A five-run second jumpstarted UW-Whitewater's offense, three doubles, a single, and a ground out putting the Warhawks in a commanding position.
- Three runs in the fourth and sixth innings would extend UW-Whitewater's lead. A pair of singles up the middle and a sacrifice fly made up the fourth inning rally, while a single and a pair of doubles tacked on three more in the sixth.
- After the Warhawks added on another run with a home run to left in the top of the seventh, Edgewood University put the pressure on as they looked to extend the game. A
Charlie Tompach single plated a pair, before
Hayden Hellenbrand walked with the bases loaded. While the Eagles had an opportunity to extend the game, a strike out with the bases loaded ended the threat.
- Jackson Koening had an impressive outing for UW-Whitewater. He tossed six scoreless innings, striking out six with only four hits allowed.
- The Warhawks finished with six doubles. Five players had two or more hits.
-
Kyle Prindle hit a double for Edgewood University.
