Eagles fall to Corsairs, Golden Flyers in Florida

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Edgewood University softball team opened their time at THE Spring Games facing UMass Dartmouth and Nazareth University on Saturday. The Corsairs took home an 8-3 win over the Eagles. In the nightcap, the Golden Flyers defeated the Eagles 6-2.

UMASS DARTMOUTH 8, EDGEWOOD UNIVERSITY 3
- UMass Dartmouth (2-0) scored first on Saturday, as a single up the middle plated two runners in the third frame. Edgewood University (3-5) battled back in the bottom of the fourth inning, as a double off the bat of Gracie Halfman plated Lily Mabs.

- The Corsairs took the lead back in the fifth frame, as a pair of RBI hits scored two runners for a 4-2 lead. Edgewood University plated their final run of the game in the fifth inning, an RBI single from Allie Draper.

- UMass Dartmouth scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to solidify the win.

- Natalie Fields with 2-for-4 at the plate in game one. Halfman and Mabs each roped a double.

- Hailie Boardman threw 5.1 innings and struck out three batters.

- Edy Crawford posted the complete game victory for the Corsairs, striking out five batters.

NAZARETH UNIVERSITY 6, EDGEWOOD UNIVERSITY 2
- Nazareth University (2-0) opened scoring in the fourth inning on Saturday. A solo home run from Kaijah Alexander was the first excitement after a rain delay. A double to left field plated another runner for a 2-0 lead through four innings.

- The Golden Flyers plated four runs in the bottom of the fifth frame for a 6-0 lead.

- Edgewood University broke up the no-hitter from Amanda Linnenbrink in the sixth inning. A single from Abilina Dubree broke through for the Eagles. Draper followed that up with a double to center field. A sacrifice fly off the bat of Mabs plated Dubree for the Eagles first run of game two. Grace Dooley plated Draper from third with a single.

- Hailie Boardman started for the Eagles in the circle, throwing 3.1 innings and striking out two batters. Ariana Macias made her first appearance for the Eagles. Lauren Prigge closed things out in the circle, throwing two innings and striking out three batters.

- Linnenbrink went the distance for Nazareth, striking out five batters and scattering three hits.

- Edgewood University will face Endicott and Trinity on Sunday. Action against Endicott is set to begin at 10:00 a.m. (ET) from Kissimmee, Fla.
