MADISON, Wis. – Men's Volleyball took on another NACC foe at the Todd Wehr Edgedome Saturday for Alumni Day. They squared off with the Concordia Wisconsin Falcons. The Eagles (7-10, 4-4 NACC) found themselves on the back foot after a strong first set, but a late surge sent them flying past the Falcons (2-15, 2-5) 3-2 (25-13, 23-25, 21-25, 25-23, 15-11).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood University held Concordia Wisconsin to a .000 hitting percentage in the opening frame. Their stifling defense was accompanied by 11 unanswered with
Ethan Hoffert holding serve for most of it, pushing them ahead 14-3 as they never looked back.
- The squads exchanged runs as the second set rolled on. Four in a row pulled the Eagles ahead 9-7, while a 4-0 run from the Falcons had them flying 14-12. Three straight in response pushed Edgewood University up 15-14. Down 19-18 late, Concordia Wisconsin grinded out a 7-4 stretch to even the match.
- The Falcons rolled in set three, jumping ahead 10-4 early with an 8-2 burst. A late 8-3 stretch from the Eagles gave them one last chance, trailing 22-21, but two kills and an ace put Concordia Wisconsin ahead 2-1.
- Edgewood University struggled early in the fourth frame as they looked for answers.
Oakley Griggs found them, earning a kill followed by three straight aces to give the Eagles life ahead 14-12. The Falcons pieced together a 18-17 edge, but Edgewood University replied with a 4-1 run to give themselves a key 21-19 lead. While Concordia Wisconsin battled to a 21-21 draw, the Eagles rode their offense to finish off the set 4-2 and force a tiebreaker.
- The Falcons dominated early, ahead 5-1, but a 5-1 response from Edgewood University tied things up 6-6. The squads wrestled for control, but the Eagles took over in the end. They finished off the set and match on a 5-1 burst.
- Edgewood University outhit Concordia Wisconsin .297-to-.221 on the day. They had a 10-to-6 edge in aces and a 12-to-9 gap in blocks.

Cade Schueller shined. The freshman posted 21 kills and a trio of blocks.

Owen Voigt stepped up in key moments with 10 kills and seven blocks.
Tanner Sindorf held down the fort behind him with 20 digs.
- Hoffert fueled a strong effort on offense with 48 assists.
- Griggs stepped up when the Eagles needed him most. He swung for 19 kills on 32 attempts with only three errors for a .500 hitting percentage while posting six aces.
- Hayden Hurley earned a 45-assist, 14-dig double-double for the Falcons.
- Owen Kolozsy tallied 19 kills. Teammate Reid Scott posted 19 of his own.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Schueller's 21 kills set a new program best.
- Sindorf's 20 digs were a new career high for the freshman libero.
- Griggs' six aces were a personal record and matched the individual match program high watermark.
- The Eagles are undefeated in five set matches this season with a 4-0 record, including three NACC victories.
