Eagles down Ripon, fall to Lawrence at Hodag Dome

RHINELANDER, Wis. – The Edgewood University softball team opened the 2026 season facing Lawrence University and Ripon College at the Hodag Dome. The Eagles claimed their first victory of 2026 in the nightcap, taking home a 5-4 win over Ripon in extra innings. Lawrence University took home a 10-2 win over the Eagles in game one.

EDGEWOOD UNIVERSITY 5, RIPON 4 (8 INNINGS)
- Edgewood University (1-1) claimed their first win of the season in the nightcap on Wednesday. The Eagles earned a walk-off win over Ripon College (1-1). The Eagles combined for eight hits to score five runs.

- Abilina Dubree was the hero on Wednesday evening, scoring Chloe McLaughlin from second base in the bottom of the eighth inning.

- Ripon took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, scoring on a single up the middle.

- Edgewood University strung together five hits in the bottom of the second inning to score three runs and take a 3-1 lead through two innings.

- Heading into the seventh inning, the Eagles led 4-2. The Red Hawks posted three hits and scored twice to time the contest at four runs apiece.

- Grace Dooley went 2-for-3 at the plate, plating two runs and scoring one herself. Dooley added a double.

- Allie Draper went 2-for-3 and blasted a home run in the fourth inning.

- Lauren Prigge claimed the win in the circle for the Eagles. Hailie Boardman made the start for Edgewood University, going 6.2 innings in her first start as an Eagle and striking out three batters.

LAWRENCE 10, EDGEWOOD UNIVERSITY 2 (6 INNINGS)
- The Eagles opened the 2026 season against Lawrence University. Edgewood University and Lawrence (1-0) were scoreless through the first three innings on Wednesday. The Eagles struck first, with a solo home run off the bat of Dubree in the top of the fourth inning. The Vikings tied things up in the bottom of the inning, thanks to a ground rule double.

- Lawrence took a 4-1 lead with a three run fifth. The Vikings cleared the bases with a double to center field.

- Lawrence took the run-rule victory thanks to six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

- Dubree went 2-for-3, scoring two runs and an RBI. MacKenzie Miller went 2-for-3 with a double.

- Prigge earned the start in the circle, striking out five batters through 4.2 innings pitched.

- Avery Chilson claimed the win in the circle for the Vikings, pitching five innings and striking out three batters.

UP NEXT
- Edgewood University will face UW-Stevens Point in a doubleheader on Thursday. Action is set for 12:00 p.m. from the Hodag Dome.
