Eagles fall to Carroll in Season Opener

WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Edgewood University women's lacrosse team fell at Carroll University 12-4 on Saturday. Christina Eloe and Milli Shell led the Eagles with two goals each in the season opener.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood University (0-1) scored first on Saturday, with Shell netting her first goal as an Eagle with 13:36 left on the clock in the first quarter.

- Carroll University (1-0) responded back with three goals to take a 3-1 lead. Shell scored again via a player-up situation, to close out the quarter and reduce the Pioneers lead to just one goal.

- Eloe tied the game up at three goals apiece just 58 seconds into the second quarter. The Eagles held the Pioneers to just one goal in the second quarter. Carroll led 4-3 going into halftime.

- The second half was all Carroll, as the home team scored three times in the third quarter and a whopping five times in the final quarter. Eloe scored her second goal of the afternoon in the third quarter, but it wasn't enough to stave off the Pioneers.

- Carroll led Edgewood University 31 to 11 in shots on Saturday. The Pioneers put 18 of their shots on target.

- Both teams finished even in draw controls on Saturday with seven a piece.

TOP PERFORMERS
- Eloe did a bit of everything for the Eagles, collecting a team-best seven ground balls, four draw controls, causing three turnovers, and scoring twice.

- Shell scored twice in her first contest as an Eagle. The freshman added three draw controls.

- Bella Braun posted eight saves in net for the Eagles.

THE OPPOSITION
- Rebecca Hallman led the Pioneers with three goals and one assist.

- Elizabeth Wang joined Hallaman with a hat trick.

- Sierra Skack posted two goals and two assists.

- Paige Helms added two goals and two draw controls.

- Elania Phaneuf, Grace Tumilty, Samantha Hurd, and Sierra Langkamp each collected two caused turnovers.

- Devon Duym posted six saves in net for Carroll.

UP NEXT
- Edgewood University will host Augustana College in their home opener on Saturday. Action is set for 1:00 p.m. from Edgewood University Field at Reddan Park.
