Eagles fall at Lake Forest in Season Opener

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The Edgewood University men's lacrosse team opened the 2026 season and conference slate at Lake Forest College on Saturday. The Eagles fell 16-3 in the NACC battle. Zach Thomas and Jackson Jerzak scored for the Eagles in the season opener.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood University (0-1, 0-1 NACC) struggled to contain the fast-paced Lake Forest College (2-0, 1-0 NACC) attack on Saturday. The Foresters took an early 2-0 lead after the first quarter.

- Jerzak scored first for the Eagles, netting his first goal in an Eagle uniform in the second quarter. The Foresters would go on to score four-straight goals to take a 7-1 advantage with just four minutes remaining before halftime. Thomas netted his first goal of the season with 3:26 remaining, assisted by Jerzak.

- Lake Forest controlled the majority of the game after halftime, scoring four unanswered goals in the third quarter and holding the Eagles to just one final goal with 32 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.

- The Eagles struggled to take advantage of extra man opportunities on Saturday, going 0-for-7 on the sheet.

- Lake Forest controlled the ball from the faceoff, winning 17 of the 22 opportunities in the conference battle.

TOP PERFORMERS
- Senior, Thomas led the Eagles with two goals.

- Freshman Jerzak scored his first goal as an Eagle and added his first assist.

- James Borgardt caused a team-high three turnovers.

- Logan Searles collected 15 saves in net for the Eagles.

- Trent Hogendorf led the Eagles with six ground balls and went 4-for-14 at the faceoff.

THE OPPOSITION
- John Shannon led the Foresters with three goals and one assist.

- Ryan Dousevicz posted two goals and one assist, while Milo Closson added two goals of his own.

- John O'Reilly picked up a team-high five ground balls.

- Judson Norris and Avary Whitehead each caused three turnovers.

- The Foresters dominated the faceoff, going 17-for-22 as a team. O'Reilly went 7-for-8 at the faceoff, while Jack Keeling went 6-for-8 and Gabe Boston went 4-for-6.

- Jacob Lipson and Henry Morgan split time in net for the Foresters. Lipson collected eight saves and the win, while Morgan totaled nine saves.
