Cougars fend off tough Eagles at the Edgedome

MADISON, Wis. – Men's Basketball continued their season-ending homestand as they looked to carry their momentum forward. They took on the Concordia Chicago Cougars at the Todd Wehr Edgedome. The Eagles (4-17, 4-11 NACC) and Cougars (7-15, 6-9) slugged it out, but in the end Concordia Chicago emerged victorious 62-59.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams jockeyed for position, neither squad leading by multiple possessions until a Payton Bowser three-pointer at 9:50 pushed Edgewood University ahead 20-16. The Cougars battled back to a 20-20 draw as the squads wrestled down the stretch, each team tying the score five times in the half. Six unanswered would give Concordia Chicago their first substantial lead of the evening, ahead 32-26 with 1:48 left. Five points from Bowser would close the Eagles within 32-31 as the teams headed to the locker room.

- The Cougars left their mark in the paint in the first frame with a 26-to-14 advantage.

- Seven points in a row had Concordia Chicago coming out of the locker room hot, head 39-31 with 17:29 to go. Edgewood University's defense stepped up as did their bench, grinding the advantage down to 51-49 with 8:38 to go. The Eagles dug their claws into the Cougars offense, holding them to three points in the last 4:59 of play. They trailed 60-59 with 1:46 left, but their buckets wouldn't fall as Concordia Chicago survived the Edgedome.

- Edgewood University held the Cougars to just 10 points in the paint in the second half, while their bench outscored the visitors 19-to-4.

- Jacob Robinson paced all scorers with 18 points. Matthew Guthrie added 13, while Honore Yangoua tallied 11.

- Will Gretzinger shined, leading the Eagles with 16 points including shooting 4-of-9 from three-point land.
