RIVER FOREST, ILL. – Men's Basketball headed south as NACC action continued. They squared off with the Dominican Stars as the Eagles looked to get back on track. A key defensive stand late from Edgewood University (3-15, 3-9 NACC) helped them outlast the Stars (1-18, 1-11) 72-69.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- A 10-2 start from the Eagles had them rolling at 14:51. The hosts struck back with a 12-3 response, holding onto a slim 14-13 edge at 9:31. Seven unanswered flipped the script for Edgewood University, pushing them ahead of Dominican 20-14 at 7:06. The Eagles would head into the locker room ahead 31-24.
- The Stars found momentum to open up the second half. Early fouls helped close the lead down to 31-28 at 18:50. Dominican tagged along, but a 10-5 stretch from the Eagles found Edgewood University up 56-46 with 7:04 remaining. The Stars refused to fade, hanging around as the minutes ticked away. The Eagles offense sputtered late, scoring 12 points in the last 4:14 as Dominican made their move with an 11-5 run from 2:57 to :51.
- Down 70-67 in the final minute, a layup with 15 seconds left pulled the Stars within 70-69. After a missed free throw gave Dominican one last chance,
Jonah Anderson and
Avery Houden clamped down on the Stars' last hope at a layup, while Houden came down with the rebound and sank his free throws with three seconds left to seal the victory.
- Edgewood University made the most of their rebounds, outscoring Dominican 19-to-5 in second chance points.

Logan Steffensmeier posted 16 points and six rebounds, leading the Eagles in both categories. He shot 5-of-8 from the field.

Hunter Hardyman and
Payton Bowser recorded 14 and 10 points respectively.
- The Stars had four players in double figures. Frank Paszkowski paced all scorers with 18 points, while Braydon Murphy earned a 15-point, 14-rebound double-double.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Edgewood University held an opponent to under 70 points for the first time in six games.
- The Eagles have defeated the Stars in three-straight games and hold a 33-9 lead in the all-time series.
