ROCKFORD, ILL. – Men's Basketball kicked off their 2026 slate Saturday as they returned to NACC action. They took on the Rockford Regents in a conference battle. The Regents (4-7, 2-3 NACC) pulled away in the second half, grounding the Eagles (1-10, 1-4) for a 64-54 victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams were stout defensively early. Edgewood University drew to a 9-9 tie at 10:05 with five points in a row. The squads continued to lock horns in a grind-it-out affair. While Rockford pulled ahead 26-22 with 1:42, a three-pointer from Avery Houdon with :59 left sent the Eagles to the locker room trailing 26-25.
- The Regents found momentum in the early minutes of the second half. They scored seven unanswered points over 3:33 to build a 37-29 edge. The Eagles would close within two multiple times, including with 5:07 left, but were unable to overtake the hosts. Ahead 48-46, Rockford ground down Edgewood University over the next 4:39, leading 61-51 late as they claimed a conference victory.
- The Regents dominated the boards 45-to-26. They held an 11-to-2 edge in second chance points and a 40-to-22 advantage in points in the paint.

Hunter Hardyman paced all Eagles with 15 points.

Trent Tousana tallied 11 points and five rebounds off the bench.
Logan Steffensmeier posted 10 points and five rebounds.
- Four Rockford players finished in double-digits. Luke Stuckey led the game with 16 points.
- Kamren Hogan played a key part in the Regent victory with a 13-point, 10-rebound double-double.
UP NEXT
Edgewood University will look to get back on the winning track with their first of back-to-back home matchups next week. They will host the Lakeland Muskies at the Todd Wehr Edgedome on Wednesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
