MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood University women's basketball team hosted Concordia University Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles fell 55-49 in the conference battle. Despite a strong second quarter effort, the Eagles shooting struggled down the stretch.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Concordia University Wisconsin (5-12, 6-5 NACC) outscored Edgewood University (9-8, 8-2 NACC) 18-12 in the opening quarter. The Falcons capitalized on their offensive rebounding in the opening 10 minutes. Despite trailing Concordia Wisconsin by six points after the opening quarter, the Eagles shot a game-best 41.67 percent (5-for-12) from the floor.
- The Eagles responded in the second quarter with strong defense, outscoring the Falcons 14-5 in the second quarter. Concordia Wisconsin only shot 4.67 percent (1-for-21) from the floor in the second quarter. A three-point make from Ava Berg with 2:49 left before halftime gave the Eagles a 22-19 advantage. Berg's sharp shooting, coupled with a layup from Kate Gunderson gave the Eagles a 26-23 lead going into halftime.
- The Falcons shot a game-high 61.54 percent (8-for-13) from the floor in the third quarter, outscoring the Eagles 17-12 out of the break. The Eagles hung tight with the Falcons, not allowing them to lead by more than five points during the third quarter. A layup from Kendall Weiler gave the Falcons a 40-38 lead going into the final quarter.
- With 6:51 left on the clock, a layup from Laci Lindsey tied the game at 44 points apiece. The Falcons slowly claimed the victory in the final minutes, taking advantage of some key missed shots from the Eagles down the stretch.
- Concordia Wisconsin won the rebounding game, posting 43 rebounds, 15 coming on the offensive side of the ball. Edgewood University only managed 37 rebounds on Saturday.
TOP PERFORMERS
- Gunderson led the Eagles with 10 points. The senior added six rebounds, three assists and two blocks.
- McKenna Reilly knocked down nine points in just 11 minutes on the court. The sophomore went 2-for-2 from beyond the arc.
THE OPPOSITION
- Isabela Gunderson led the Falcons with 14 points. Gunderson added seven rebounds and three steals.
- Andrea Butterbrodt scored 10 points and pulled down a game-best eight rebounds.

- Edgewood University will face St. Norbert College on Wednesday. Action is set for 7:00 p.m. from the Todd Wehr Edgedome.
