MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood University women's basketball team fell to St. Norbert College in conference action on Wednesday evening. The Eagles led 31-30 at halftime, but an impressive shooting performance from the Green Knights in the third quarter was too much to overcome.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- An 18 point second quarter and a strong shooting performance from Edgewood University (9-9, 8-3 NACC) were key in leading St. Norbert College (12-5, 12-0 NACC) 31-30 at halftime. The Eagles scored seven unanswered points in the final three minutes before halftime. With just seconds remaining before the half, the Eagles trailed by one point. A key offensive rebound from Taylor Wollin and jumper before the buzzer gave the Eagles the one-point advantage at halftime.
- The Green Knights confidently responded after the break, going on an 13-2 run to open the second half of action, which included three makes from beyond the arc. St. Norbert shot 85.7 percent (6-for-7) from three-point range in the third quarter and outscored the Eagles 28-8. The Green Knights took a 19 point (58-39) advantage into the final quarter.
- A three-point make from Taylor Wollin with 6:23 left in the contest brought the St. Norbert lead back to 14 points (64-50). Despite a strong shooting effort from the Eagles from three-point range in the fourth quarter, the Green Knights held strong to their lead.
- St. Norbert College led Edgewood University 39-28 in rebounding on Wednesday evening. 12 of the Green Knight's rebounds came on the offensive side of the ball, resulting in 14 second-chance points.
TOP PERFORMERS
- Three Eagles recorded 11 points on Wednesday. Ava Berg, Laci Lindsey, and Taylor Wollin each recorded 11 points.
- Lindsey pulled down a team-high six rebounds.
- Wollin did a bit of everything for the Eagles, dishing out three assists and collecting three steals.
- Sophia Guerrero collected a game-high three blocks.
THE OPPOSITION
- Three Green Knights finished with double-digit scoring on Wednesday. Marnie Kahl posted a game-high 17 points, going 8-for-13 from the floor. Olivia Conway (16 points) and Oakley Witteck (15 points) were also key scorers for St. Norbert.
- Avery Bierowski pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds.
- Witteck dished out an impressive eight rebounds for the Green Knights.
- Conway collected four steals.
