Eagles open Todd Wehr Edgedome with sweep of Bluejays

MADISON, Wis. – Women's Volleyball opened up the Todd Wehr Edgedome for the 2025 season in impressive fashion Wednesday night. They took on the Elmhurst Bluejays in a nonconference tilt. The Eagles (2-2) employed smothering defense and strong offense to shut down the Bluejays (0-4) in 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-20) fashion.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood University rattled off the first five points of the match to set the tone for the evening. While a strong service rally from Elmhurst helped them close within one, a 5-2 response set the visitors back to square one at 10-5. The squads traded rallies down the stretch as the Eagles held their avian foes at bay, before landing a 7-2 finisher for a 1-0 lead.

- Edgewood University bolted off the starting line in frame two, a 10-2 explosion sending them ahead 12-5. Elmhurst hung tough, grinding back to a 17-14 deficit with some strong offense, but once again the Eagles closed strong on a 6-2 rally.

- Offense and defense worked in sync for Edgewood University as they started out the third set ahead 8-3. The Bluejays came alive late, a 6-2 run fueled by five kills pulling them within 19-16. Finishing the night strong, four points in a row from the Eagles, including three straight aces from Mia Hinkamper, all but sealed the sweep.
