VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood University women's soccer team opened their 2025 home slate with a non-conference victory over Cornell College. The Eagles scored in both halves on Wednesday afternoon, defeating the Rams 2-0. Aubrie Cruz and Megan Hines both scored for the Eagles.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Aubrie Cruz got the scoring going for Edgewood University (2-1-0) on Wednesday afternoon. Cruz was in the right place at the right time, taking advantage of chaos in the box to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead.
- Just 22 seconds into the second half, Megan Hines gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead. Hines goal assisted by Riley Haertle.
- The Eagles dominated Cornell College (1-1-0) offensively, taking 34 shots to just two from the Rams. The Eagles put 17 of their 34 shots on net on Wednesday afternoon.
- Emma Swenson recorded two saves for the Eagles in net. Her counterpart Sabrina Ibanez posted 15 saves for the Rams.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Eagles have now won five-straight over the Rams, with the first meeting between the two squads happening back in 2016. The Eagles have shutout the Rams three times in five meetings.
