VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood University women's soccer team dropped a conference contest to Illinois Tech on Saturday. The visiting Scarlet Hawks earned a 4-0 victory over the Eagles. Saturday's contest was a cancer awareness game for the Eagles, as they raised awareness for Cholangiocarcinoma.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Illinois Tech (8-0-1, 4-0-0 NACC) scored three of their four goals in the first half of action on Saturday. Kelly Hitchcock scored twice to open the contest for the Scarlet Hawks, her first goal coming in the 16th minute. Kayla Smith scored the third goal for Illinois Tech on Saturday.
- The Edgewood University (6-4-1, 2-2-0 NACC) attack struggled in the first half, only taking four shots before halftime. The Scarlet Hawks controlled the ball for most of the half, taking a whopping 16 shots.
- Kayla Thomas put the finishing touches on the Scarlet Hawks victory with a goal in the 62nd minute.
- Edgewood University put their only shot on goal in the second half, coming from Rylee Brotz.
- Emma Swenson and Madeline Brown split time in net for the Eagles, combining for four saves.
