VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood University men's soccer team took home a 2-1 victory over Illinois Tech on Saturday. The Eagles continued their undefeated NACC slate with goals from Liam Moreira and Cristian Torres-Gale.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Liam Moreira scored his first goal as an Eagle on Saturday to put Edgewood University (6-1-2, 4-0-0 NACC) on the scoreboard in the 29th minute. Moreira's goal assisted by Brandon Kaup.
- The Eagles took a 1-0 advantage into halftime despite taking 14 shots in the first 45 minutes and putting five on target.
- Illinois Tech (4-5-1, 1-3-0 NACC) tied things up in the 55th minute thanks to a goal from Mateo Scaira.
- The Eagles responded to take the lead back in the 64th minute. Cristian Torres-Gale found the back of the net, assisted by Gabe Voung.
- Edgewood University led Illinois Tech 25-11 in shots on Saturday.
- Griffin Meisterheim recorded three saves in net for the Eagles. All three saves came in the second half of action.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Edgewood University is now the only remaining team in the NACC with an undefeated conference record.
- The Eagles have now won four straight contests.
