VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood University men's soccer team continued their NACC crown defense with another conference victory on Wednesday evening. The Eagles took down MSOE 2-1 at home. Cristian Torres-Gale and Riley Kann each scored for the Eagles.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood University (5-1-2, 3-0-0 NACC) wasted little time getting on the scoreboard on Wednesday, as Cristian Torres-Gale netted the Eagles first goal in the 26th minute. Torres-Gale took advantage of chaos in the box to find the back of the net, assisted by Gabe Voung.
- Riley Kann netted the Eagles second goal in the 35th minute. A perfectly placed pass from Liam Moreira found the head of Kann for a 2-0 Eagles advantage.
- Edgewood University did well to hold MSOE (5-3-1, 2-1-0 NACC) to just seven shots in the first half. Maverick Van Laanen was crucial in net for the Eagles, making four saves before halftime.
- The Raiders weren't satisfied with a shutout, scoring in the 58th minute.
- MSOE's attack was dominant in the second half, doubling their shots from the first half and holding the Eagles to just four shots in the final 45 minutes. Despite taking nine shots down the stretch, the Eagles held on for the victory.
- The Eagles back line and goalkeeper Van Laanen put in tough work to hold the Raiders to just one goal on Wednesday night. Van Laanen managing six saves in the second half and totaling 10 when it was all said and done.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Edgewood University now leads MSOE 24-23 in the all-time series. The Eagles have won two-straight against the Raiders.
