VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood University women's soccer team faced a tough No. 25 UW-La Crosse team on Sunday afternoon. In the battle of the Eagle squads, Edgewood University fell 4-0 in non-conference action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UW-La Crosse (6-0-0) wasted little time getting on the scoreboard on Sunday, netting their first goal at the 9:23 mark. Jillian Sawadski gave the visiting Eagles a 1-0 advantage early on.
- Grace Williams gave UW-La Crosse their second goal in the 35th minute. Edgewood University (4-2-1) went into halftime, trailing 2-0. UW-La Crosse recorded a whopping 23 shots in the first half, compared to just one for Edgewood University.
- UW-La Crosse put the pressure on early in the second half, scoring just 1:14 after halftime. UW-La Crosse would put the contest out of reach in the 55th minute with a goal from Katelyn Studebaker.
- Edgewood University goalkeepers Madeline Brown and Emma Swenson were kept busy on Sunday. Brown earned the start, making five saves in the first 45 minutes. Swenson came on in relief, making three saves.
- Rylee Brotz took both shots for Edgewood University on Sunday.
- UW-La Crosse led Edgewood University 40-2 in the shots department.
