PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – A penalty kick goal made the difference for Edgewood University men's soccer on Saturday evening. The Eagles took down the UW-Platteville Pioneers 1-0 in non-conference action Saturday. Connor Gage netted the penalty kick goal for the Eagles in the 65th minute.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- With under 26 minutes remaining in a scoreless contest, Edgewood University (2-1-2) was on the attack. A yellow card on UW-Platteville () in the box gave the Eagles the perfect opportunity to take the lead. Connor Gage stepped up to the plate and netted the only goal of the evening, a penalty kick, in the 65th minute.
- It was a back-and-forth affair on Saturday evening, with both teams failing to score in the first half of action. The Pioneers managed five shots in the first half, while the Eagles took four before halftime.
- Taylor Ganter led the Eagles with two shots in the non-conference affair. Six other Eagles took a shot in the contest.
- The Eagles defense did well to limit shots on goal from UW-Platteville. The Pioneers only managing two shots on goal, one in each half of action.
- Maverick Van Laanen managed two saves for the Eagles in net.
