LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Edgewood College women's lacrosse traveled to Lake Forest College on Wednesday afternoon. The Foresters earned the conference win via a score of 17-8. Lake Forest's dynamic attack was too much for the Eagles on Wednesday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lake Forest (8-4, 5-0 NACC) proved why they are one of two undefeated teams in the NACC on Wednesday. The Foresters scored five goals in the opening quarter and took an 8-4 advantage into halftime.
- Zoee Pond did well to slow down the Foresters attack in the second quarter, recording a game-high eight saves. Kerry Costello and Emma Raupp scored in the second quarter to limit the Foresters to just a four-goal lead at the break.
- The Foresters turned on the jets in the third quarter, scoring seven goals out of the break. Georgia Vandigo and Christina Eloe both scored in the third quarter, but it wasn't enough to slow down the Lake Forest attack.
- Lake Forest led Edgewood College 42-19 in shots on the afternoon.
- Both teams struggled in transition, with Edgewood College going 15-for-27 on the clear. Lake Forest went 13-for-20 on the clear.
TOP PERFORMERS
- Raupp recorded three goals for the Eagles. The senior added four draw controls, four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
- Eloe collected six draw controls, scored twice and recorded two caused turnovers.
- Pond collected 18 saves in the conference loss.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Raupp, the Eagles career-goals leader has now reached 200 career goals in her career. The senior has eclipsed the mark in just three seasons.
THE OPPOSITION
- Jenna Doctor led the Lake Forest attack with seven goals on 14 shots.
- Emma Sharp dished out a game-high six assists and scored four goals.
- Cecilia Adams recorded six saves in net for the Foresters.
