PLYMOUTH, Wis. – The Edgewood College softball team continued conference action at Lakeland University on Sunday. The Eagles took game one 8-7 and fell in game two by a score of 7-4. The Eagles bats combined for 22 hits on Sunday, nine of which were extra-base hits.
EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 8, LAKELAND UNIVERSITY 7
- Lakeland University (7-9, 4-2 NACC) opened the bottom of the first inning with four runs. The Muskies scoring two of their runs thanks to doubles off the bats of Lexi Howard and Sydney Meyer. Edgewood College (9-17, 4-6 NACC) responded with two runs in the top of the second inning. Lily Mabs roped a double into left field to score Allie Draper. Camden Shepherd recorded an infield single to plate Mabs.
- The Muskies and Eagles both scored one run in the third frame. After three innings, the Muskies led 6-3.
- A three-run fourth frame for the Eagles evened the game at six runs apiece. Olivia Hebert plated Shepherd via her first double of the day. Grace Ott followed that up with another double to clear the base-paths and score Kya Loffswold and Hebert.
- Lakeland briefly took a 7-6 lead in the fifth inning, but two runs from the Eagles in the top of the sixth inning solidified the 8-7 lead.
- Lauren Prigge earned the complete game victory, striking out three batters and scattering seven hits.
- The Eagles totaled 12 hits in game one, led by three from Shepherd and Draper. Hebert went 2-for-3 at the plate, scoring three runs and roping two doubles.
LAKELAND UNIVERSITY 7, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 4
- The Muskies scored first in game two, plating four runs in the third frame. Edgewood College scored twice in the fourth inning and twice in the seventh inning, but it wasn't enough to take home the victory.
- The Lakeland bats were consistent in game two, as the Muskies recorded 12 hits, four of which were extra-base hits. Carlie Morrow went 3-for-3 at the plate for the Muskies, scoring one run, driving in two, and roping two triples.
- The Edgewood College defense recorded three double plays in the nightcap on Sunday.
- Hebert, Loffswold, and Draper each recorded two hits for the Eagles. Mabs recorded a triple in the fourth inning.
- Kaitlin Pratt earned the start in the circle for the Eagles, pitching 3.1 innings and striking out one batter. Tatum Duff pitched two innings, scattering three hits. Nikki Fahey threw 0.2 innings.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Hebert has now tied the Eagles all-time doubles record, set by current assistant coach Jamie Kurt (2006-09). Hebert's three doubles on Sunday put her even at the 48 doubles mark set by Kurt.
