WAUKESHA, WIS. – Women's Tennis continued nonconference action Saturday. They took on the Carroll Pios in a road match. The Pios (11-6) rallied for a 4-3 victory against the Eagles (15-8).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College had momentum early with the doubles point. Marisa Light/
Evelyn Taylor won 6-3 in top billing, while
Hattie Plenty/
Madelyn Connaughty claimed a 6-1 final in the second slot.
- The Pios defeated
Sarah Emory/
Christina Ekkela 6-3 in no. 3 doubles.
- Taylor fell 6-3, 6-4 in top singles, while Light earned a 6-3, 6-4 final in the second slot to maintain the one-point edge.
- Plenty came from behind for a 6-7 (3-7), 6-3, 1-0 (10-5) marathon of a victory in the third slot. Connaughty fell in no. 4 singles as Carroll kept pace
- The Pios completed the comeback in no. 5 and no. 6 singles. They evened the match with a 6-1, 6-2 final against Ekkela in the fifth slot before earning the victory in a 6-2, 6-1 final against Emory in the sixth slot.
UP NEXT
The Eagles will return home to Quann Park Friday, April 18. They'll take on Saint Ambrose as they continue to tune up for the NACC Tournament. First serve is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
