Eagles fall to Spartans in NACC play

VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood College men's lacrosse team hosted Aurora University on Saturday afternoon in NACC play. The Spartans earned their sixth conference victory, taking home an 18-4 win over the Eagles. Nick Orosco and Lake Rewey led the Eagles attack on Saturday, while Logan Searles collected a career-best saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (3-7, 2-4 NACC) opened Saturday afternoon with two-straight goals to take a 2-0 lead over Aurora University (6-5, 6-0 NACC). Orosco scored with 12:20 on the clock in the opening quarter, assisted by Maddux Ptasienski. Rewey added a man-up goal with 10:33 on the clock, assisted by Tyler Stockwell.

- The Spartans responded with five-straight goals to take a 5-2 lead through 15 minutes. Aurora would go on to score five unanswered in the second quarter for a 10-2 lead at halftime.

- Aurora scored the first four goals of the third quarter to make it 14 unanswered goals beginning with 9:37 in the first quarter. Rewey scored the Eagles only goal of the third quarter.

- Aurora dominated the faceoff on Saturday, collecting 22, compared to just three from the Eagles.

TOP PERFORMERS
- Rewey and Orosco both scored twice for Edgewood College.

- Stockwell, Ptasienski and James Borgardt each recorded an assist.

- Ryan Hanrahan and Zane Neville both recorded two caused turnovers.

- Searles posted a career-best 18 saves for the Eagles in net.

THE OPPOSITION
- Chris Bucci, Ben Strub and Reilan Pura each recorded a hat trick for the Spartans.

- Elie Etzler went 12-for-12 at the faceoff, while Tanner Spoklie went 5-for-5 at the faceoff.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Orosco set the Edgewood College men's lacrosse career points record on Saturday. The senior moved past Blake Stockwell's (2021-254) mark of 110 points, to own 112 points in his career. Rewey moved into second place on the Eagles career-points list, capturing the 111th point of his career.

- Edgewoood College will host the University of Dubuque on Wednesday. Action is set for 7:00 p.m. from Edgewood College Field at Reddan Park.
