Eloe's overtime goal lifts Eagles to NACC Tournament Semifinal Victory at Aurora

MONTGOMERY, Ill. – Just 26 seconds into overtime, Christina Eloe found a gap in the Aurora University defense and gave Edgewood College women's lacrosse the golden goal victory over Aurora University in the NACC Tournament Semifinal. No. 3 Edgewood College trailed No. 2 Aurora University 12-9 going into the final quarter on Wednesday. The Eagles netted four goals in the fourth quarter to take a 13-12 lead with 4:39 remaining. The Spartans tied the contest at 13 goals apiece to send the contest into overtime. The Eagles will appear in the NACC Tournament Final for the first time in program history.  

HOW IT HAPPENED
- With one quarter remaining, Edgewood College (10-7) trailed Aurora University (11-7) 12-9. Eloe opened the fourth quarter with three-straight goals to tie the contest at 12 goals apiece. Emma Raup gave the Eagles a 13-12 advantage with just 4:39 left on the clock. A goal from Kenly Axvig of Aurora just a minute later tied the contest at 13 goals apiece.

- The Eagles hung tough with the Spartans in the second quarter, as both teams netted four goals before halftime. An early five goal first quarter gave the Spartans a 9-6 advantage at the break.

- The Eagles led the Spartans 17-to-13 in the draw control on Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles won nine draw controls after halftime, including the final draw control in overtime.

- Edgewood College scored three goals via free-position shots. The Spartans went 0-for-4 at the free position shot on Wednesday.

TOP PERFORMERS
- Raupp scored eight goals, five of which came in the first half of action. Raupp added four draw controls.

- Eloe did a bit of everything for the Eagles, scoring five goals, collecting eight draw controls, and adding an assist.

- Zoee Pond added nine saves in the contest. Six of Ponds saves came in the second half.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Edgewood College continues to make history in the postseason. After earning their first NACC Tournament win against Beloit College on Wednesday, the Eagles earn their second tournament victory, and first program win over Aurora.

THE OPPOSITION
- Kenly Axvig totaled four goals, three assists, three caused turnovers and six ground balls for Aurora.

- Caley Russell scored three times and dished out three assists on Wednesday afternoon.

- Rachel Wickey recorded seven saves for the Spartans.

UP NEXT
- Edgewood College will travel to No 1. Lake Forest on Saturday, May 3 for the NACC Tournament Final. Action will take place at Farwell Field in Lake Forest, Illinois.
