Prigge, Ott lead Eagles to Game One Win at Marian

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – A Lauren Prigge complete game and grand slam from Grace Ott earned Edgewood College softball a game one victory over Marian University on Sunday. The Eagles won the opener 8-2, before the Sabres secured the split with a 3-1 win in game two.

EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 8, MARIAN UNIVERSITY 2
- Prigge impressed in game one by only allowing two earned runs over her seven innings pitched. Marian (18-16, 12-8 NACC) scored early in the game, but late runs from the Eagles bats lifted the team to victory. Prigge worked hard in the circle, striking out seven batters and scattering eight hits.

- Going into the fifth inning, Marian led 2-1. The Eagles loaded the bases via back-to-back singles, a fielder's choice and a walk. Ott came up to the plate and blasted a grand slam to left field to give the Eagles a convincing 5-2 advantage.

- The Eagles defense put in work in the final three innings, only allowing two Sabres to reach base.

- Edgewood College (11-25, 6-14 NACC) tacked on three insurance runs in the sixth inning. Back-to-back singles from Kya Loffswold and Olivia Hebert giving the Eagles an 8-2 lead.

- Loffswold, Gracie Halfman, and Bean Dubree each recorded two hits in game one for the Eagles. Halfman added two stolen bases on the afternoon.

MARIAN UNIVERSITY 3, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 1
- The Eagles got on the scoreboard first in the nightcap. A solo home run from Lily Mabs in the fourth frame giving Edgewood College a 1-0 advantage.

- Unfortunately, the Eagles struggled to plate any more runs on the day. The Sabres scored twice in the bottom of the fourth frame to take a 2-1 advantage.

- Marian scored the final run of the day in the fifth frame, via an RBI single to left field.

- Mabs went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Eagles, recording a double and a home run.

- Kaitlin Pratt went the distance in the circle in game two. The freshman scattered six hits, recorded two earned runs, and struck out four batters.

UP NEXT
- Edgewood College will host St. Norbert College on Friday, May 2 for Senior Day. The NACC doubleheader is set to begin at 3:00 p.m.
