Eagles fall to Stars

RIVER GROVE, Ill. – The Edgewood College softball team faced the top team in the NACC Saturday, traveling to Dominican University. The Stars were too much for the Eagles, winning both contests by scores of 10-3 and 4-3.

DOMINICAN UNIVERSITY 10, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 3
- Edgewood College (10-24, 5-13 NACC) scored first on Saturday, as an RBI double off the bat of Olivia Hebert plated Camden Shepherd. Dominican University (24-8, 15-3 NACC) responded with three runs in the bottom of the second frame.

- The Stars continued their scoring in the fourth inning, plating five runs to take an 8-1 lead.

- Hebert responded with a two-run blast in the fifth inning to give the Eagles three runs.

- Dominican tacked on two more runs in the sixth frame to solidify the 10-3 final.

- Hebert went 3-for-4 at the plate for the Eagles.

- Kaitlin Pratt went 5.2 innings in the circle for Edgewood College. The freshman struck out one batter and allowed three earned runs.

DOMINICAN UNIVERSITY 4, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 3
- In the top of the second inning of game two, Edgewood College took a 2-1 lead over Dominican. The Stars scored early in the first inning, but doubles from Allie Draper and Shepherd gave the Eagles the lead.

- The Stars tied the game in the bottom of the fourth, but the Eagle bats again responded. Another double, this time off the bat of Hebert, put runners in scoring position. Grace Ott plated Shepherd via a sacrifice fly to give the Eagles a 3-2 lead.

- The Eagles lead vanished in the seventh frame, as the Stars loaded the bases and earned the victory via a hit by pitch.

- Draper went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Eagles.

- Lauren Prigge pitched 6.1 innings for the Eagles. The freshman struck out three batters and allowed just six hits.

- Edgewood College will travel to Marian University on Sunday. Doubleheader action is set for 12:00 p.m. from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
