First half attack lifts Eagles past Vikings

VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood College men's lacrosse team earned their second conference victory behind a hot offensive start on Wednesday night. The Eagles took down Lawrence University 13-10 from Edgewood College Field at Reddan Park. Lake Rewey, Maddux Ptasienski and Nick Orosco paced the Eagles attack.  

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (3-6, 2-3 NACC) opened the contest with a 3-0 run. Orosco netted the Eagles first goal with 8:50 remaining on the clock in the first quarter. Lake Rewey and James Borgardt both scored in the following minutes. Lawrence University (3-7, 1-4 NACC) scored the final goal of the quarter with 2:42 remaining. The Eagles led 3-1 going into the second quarter.

- The Eagles continued to apply pressure to the Vikings in the second quarter, scoring five times and taking a confident 8-3 advantage into halftime. Rewey netted a hat trick alone in the second quarter, while Ptasienski and Brady Hunn found the back of the net before the break.

- Offensive action slowed for both teams in the third quarter. Lawrence goalkeeper Gavin Reiter managed four saves in the quarter to hold the Eagles to just two goals. The Vikings scored once in the quarter, as the Eagles took a 10-4 advantage into the final quarter.

- The Vikings netted a whopping six goals in the final quarter in an attempt to erase the Eagles advantage. Goals from Orosco and Ptasienski early in the quarter gave the Eagles a 12-10 advantage with just 2:22 left on the clock. The Eagles squeaked away with the victory in a tense final minutes.

TOP PERFORMERS
- Rewey led the Eagles with four goals, and one assist.

- Ptasienski recorded a hat trick and added an assist.

- Orosco recorded the Eagles second hat trick of the night.

- Logan Searles recorded seven saves for the Eagles in net.

THE OPPOSITION
- Brody Herr recorded a game-best six goals on the night.

- Iori Yamada recorded three goals and caused two turnovers for the Vikings.

- Zachary Breaux caused three turnovers and collected four ground balls.

- Cody Brekke went 12-for-16 at the faceoff and collected seven ground balls.

- Gavin Reiter recorded 12 saves in net for Lawrence.

UP NEXT
- Edgewood College will host Aurora University on Saturday, April 5. Action is set for 3:30 p.m. from Edgewood College Field at Reddan Park.
