VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood College men's lacrosse team hosted Concordia Wisconsin on Senior Day, Saturday. The Eagles fell to the Falcons, 22-9 in the conference contest. The Eagles celebrated the careers of seven seniors – Tyler Stockwell, Alek Maurer, Nick Orosco, Alex Kimmel, Luke Quakenbush, Andrew Stich, and Brady Hunn.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Concordia Wisconsin (9-7, 7-3 NACC) got out to a quick offensive start on Saturday, scoring nine goals in the first quarter. Edgewood College (4-10, 3-7 NACC) had a tough time slowing down the Falcons dynamic attack. The Eagles only scored once in the first half, a goal from James Borgardt in the first quarter.
- The Falcons took a 16-1 advantage into halftime.
- The Eagles settled in a bit in the third quarter, holding the Falcons to just five goals and scoring twice. Borgardt scored the Eagles second and third goals of the afternoon, both coming in the third quarter.
- Orosco, Lake Rewey, and Stockwell contributed to the Eagles scoring efforts in the fourth quarter. Edgewood College outscored the Falcons 6-1 in the final 15 minutes, but it wasn't enough to erase the early lead.
- Concordia Wisconsin won 24 faceoffs on Saturday, compared to just 11 for Edgewood College.
TOP PERFORMERS
- Logan Searles recorded a career-best 22 saves in net for the Eagles. Searles recorded 13 of his saves before halftime.
- Borgardt posted four goals and one assist to lead the Eagles attack.
- Quakenbush and Ryan Hanrahan each caused two turnovers.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Edgewood College has claimed a spot to the NACC Tournament for the first-time in program history. The Eagles have earned the eight seed in the tournament and will travel to Aurora University on Saturday, April 26 for a NACC Tournament Quarterfinal match-up.
THE OPPOSITION
- Bryce Petersen and Preston Meier both recorded give goals and two assists.
- Jaxon Hill went 14-for-15 at the faceoff.
- Travis Marquardt earned the start in net for the Falcons, collecting four saves and the win. Nolan O'Malley posted six saves across 30 minutes of action in net.
